One of the biggest differences between God and Satan, (and God and human beings for that matter) is that God is good! In my view, this is one of the most underrated characteristics of God.
More often than not we make mistakes. We mishear what the Holy Spirit says to us. We turn left, thinking that is what God wants us to do, when in fact He wants us to take the next right. Sometimes, we even ignore the voice of the Spirit. We miss opportunities and ignore the doors that the Lord has opened for us. Sometimes, we acknowledge our mistakes (when we know that we have made them) and repent. But often, after repenting, we forget that even though we have made mistakes, God is still good.
God is not evil; God is not vindictive. He is not sitting in heaven, saying to Himself and the host of heaven “Ha Ha, I told you so!”, whenever we make a mistake. God is not waiting for us to collapse and then be proven right. Why? Because God is good. I was reminded by a preacher recently that if we are truly seeking the Lord even when we make mistakes, we will not miss Him. He is truly, a rewarder of those who diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6).
So, the next time you make a mistake, sin, miss an opportunity or even ignore the Holy Spirit. After you have acknowledged, your mistake remember that it will all work out for good in the end (Romans 8:28), not just because you love God but also because
GOD IS GOOD!
