Believe God and Start!

Nehemiah 2:19 -3:1 - But when Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem the Arab heard of our plan, they scoffed contemptuously. “What are you doing? Are you rebelling against the king?” they asked. I replied, “The God of heaven will help us succeed. We, his servants, will start rebuilding this wall. But you have no share, legal right, or historic claim in Jerusalem.” Then Eliashib the high priest and the other priests started to rebuild at the Sheep Gate. They dedicated it and set up its doors, building the wall as far as the Tower of the Hundred, which they dedicated, and the Tower of Hananel. (NLT)

One of the biggest mistakes (perhaps the biggest) we make when we hear from the Lord is not starting. In the face of opposition, not only did Nehemiah stand firm against his opposition but after his words of faith, we read that the building project started! Many of us have the faith to speak out that God will help us but few of us follow through on what we hear the Lord say to us.

Today’s devotional is a quick reminder to start whatever project God has placed in your heart. Why? Because the God of heaven will help you succeed!

Questions for reflection: Do I believe that God will help me succeed? What haven’t I started that I believe the Lord is calling me to do today? What one thing can I do today to start that project? Have I prayed for Holy Spirit to strengthen my faith in this area to both believe in God and to start what he is calling me to do?
